We support

The Stutchman Family strongly believes in supporting our local Reno/Sparks community. The following are a few of the organizations that we are proud to call your attention to.

The Alzheimer’s Association of Northern Nevada

Thirty years ago when the Stutchmans first started working with seniors in Northern Nevada, very little was known about Alzheimer’s and the specialized care required for individuals with the disease.  The recommended treatments were physical restraint or medication to the point of incapacitation.

Fortunately, the care for persons with Alzheimer’s has changed dramatically, as has the knowledge and education surrounding the disease.  The Alzheimer’s Association has been at the forefront of these changes.  Their work in securing funding for research has been unprecedented.  Just as importantly, they provide support and education services for people with Alzheimer’s and their families.  The Association has improved the lives of thousands of families who deal with the effects of Alzheimer’s on a daily basis.

The Arbors is proud to be a Gold Sponsor of the Alzheimer’s Association of Northern Nevada’s Reno Memory Walk for the 4th year and a sponsor of the Association’s Educational Symposium held each spring. www.alz.org

Moments of Memory – Art from the Hearts of Alzheimer’s Artists

Hannah and Grace assist an Arbors resident artist during the Paper Palette demonstration

A non-profit program of visual art expression developed for those living with Alzheimer’s and related dementias.  Moments of Memory classes create a safe, supportive environment for social interaction and self-expression resulting in a non-critical and fail-safe experience.  Specific techniques enable individuals to focus on a task at hand and experience a sense of accomplishment, counteracting feelings of depression and isolation.  Having the opportunity to share the tangible reward of their efforts in a group setting renews self-confidence and trust.  Reconnecting with society in a productive community restores a sense of self even in the later stages of the artist’s memory illness.
