With over 20 years of experience in the assisted living and healthcare industry in northern Nevada, Barb brings a wealth of expertise to the Arbors. She served as the Executive Director of a corporate-owned assisted living and Alzheimer’s care community and is very familiar with person-centered care, as well as managing a large staff of caregivers.
Barb’s primary responsibilities are to ensure we are compliant with all State and Federal regulations, to meet with resident families as needed and to manage the day-to-day operations of the Arbors.
Barb is a 3rd generation Nevadan and when she’s not working you’ll find her enjoying Nevada’s great outdoors with her husband and two daughters.
Bernie Urbanski, Wellness Directors
Bernie Urbanski is our Wellness Director. She is your first point of contact when you have a concern about your loved ones care. She works directly with our residents’ physicians and oversees all of our caregivers and Med Techs.
Bernie comes to the Arbors with a decade of experience in the Assisted Living/Long Term Care industry. Having worked as a caregiver, staff nurse, executive director, community manager and charge nurse, Bernie knows the ins and outs of a community like the Arbors. When she’s not working, Bernie enjoys running,traveling and watching college sports.
Kim joined the Arbors in 2013 working in our Wellness Office. She came to the Arbors with 10 years of experience as a CNA and Med Tech in assisted living communities. Prior to coming to the Arbors, Kim worked as a Lead Med Tech in a memory care unit.
While working in our Wellness Office, Kim developed a great rapport with our families and showed tremendous communication skills. When our Community Relations Director position opened up, we immediately asked Kim if she had an interest in taking it. While she misses the daily hands-on interaction with our residents, she loves working with new resident families, providing tours and helping families as they move their loved one into the Arbors.
Kim has four daughters who keep life busy. In her downtime Kim is a foodie and loves to experience local new cuisine and travel to spend time with her family and friends.
Viki Lowrey has been caring for our residents at the Arbors for 4 years. With a background in nursing, Viki started as our Wellness Director. When the position of Activity Director opened three years ago, she jumped at that opportunity. Her true passion is engaging our residents and she wanted more direct time with them.
With Viki at the helm, we offer a huge variety of events and activities for our entire residents at one time, as well as small groups and one-on-one programming. Every Wednesday, Viki takes a group to destinations like parks, museums or other attractions such as pumpkin patches and wildlife zoos. She is instrumental in creating fun, entertaining Family Nights that create a terrific environment for residents and their loved ones to eat a meal together and enjoy each other’s company.
Besides planning and leading activities for our residents, Viki keeps herself very active. She enjoys gardening, traveling to the ocean and spending time with family and friends.
Barbara has been with The Arbors since 2006. She has over 40 years of experience in various health related fields. She is responsible for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Human Resources. She is energetic and passionate about doing a good job.
Barbara began her career with seniors as a caregiver. Her familiarity with all areas of the business facilitates great communication with resident families.
Barbara enjoys working for a family-owned business and likes the hands on nature of her job. She’s also an incredible baker!
